OMG!!! It's DONE!!!

I finally, after years of procrastinating on my old site... and hating every second of having to code fics by hand every time I wanted to post, and then have to recode every single one when I wanted to do a face lift... and now with the whole mass server move I made where I never even bothered to transfer the fiction over... I was really FORCED to update my library top to bottom...

OMG SQUEE I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS YEARS AGO!
THE NEW AND IMPROVED fablespinner.com FICTION ARCHIVE SECTION

Please any feedback you can give on how it works for you would be most appreciated! I've never done anything quite this techy before.
My Fiction Archives now work sorta like ff.net does with search features, favorites, rating sytem, review system, printer friendly capabilities, chaptering etc...

And please leave a COMMENT on the site itself... I want to test message delivery please. Just click on the (0 Comments) on the News item on the main page and you can leave one. I'd rather you comment there than here on the site... it helps me test. Muchas Gracias! (I think that also means you need to sign up, (takes 2 seconds), I don't know if anonymous comments work on the main page... I think they only work in the Review Section)

I R TEH HAPPY!
*DIES* (I never thought I'd ever get this done.)

Oooooohhhhhh, awesome! ^_^ The archive looks really cool... easy to read text, no fancy-schmancy fonts and links... very nice.

Thanks, that's just the skin default... I saw no need to change it. ^_^

default template with the open source php software... I saw no need to change it when it was sooooo easy to read. ^_^

It's really NOT that hard

The trick:
#1 CMOD Changes to 2 files
#2 (and this is what gave me HELL until I found the cause) Make sure you call micfo tech after you install and tell them that cURL php on the server needs to allow the word "curl" ie: "curl up with a good book" in your fiction text. I kept getting FORBIDDEN errors if I tried to post fiction with that word in it... it took me 2 minutes to solve after I found the support forum that mentioned the cURL php language needed to allow that word in text. It took me 8 hours reading support forums to find that answer to my woes...

Otherwise it would have taken about 30 minutes to set it up.

Having just looked through eFiction's site and seen the default skin, I want to congratulate you on doing an excellent job with the coding and ironing out the kinks - your site works fine for me (and looks good) and their skin demos (unfortunately) don't. So yeah, big thumbs up from me! ^_^

THanks. I'm gonna try to make a personalized skin using the same layout, just making the upper page graphic mine.

Little change I don't think will be TOO hard... I hope.

Now that I figured out all the kinks (That I've run across so far that is), I can help if you ever need it.

It looks great. The only thing that could make great fic better is a great layout, and you've both. Have signed up and commented on the site, and both were very easy to do!

Thanks! I responded to you in the comments there too. I really wanted the ease of updating like you get with ff.net, rather than having to code every chapter by hand every time... this I can post as I write in real time and just copy and paste into the upload editor. Thanks!

bravo. this is the first time i've seen a website layed out in this particular fashion. adding pictures to each link is a nice touch.

having done a bit of coding myself, i can't even imagine doing the upgrading you just did. i thank you for the hours of time you had to put into bring back all the fics we so dearly love. :)

That I have to go fix (My fault) I wanted to edit the ratings and screwed up now I have to go fix the ratings on all my fics (and chapters) so you don't get a stupid blank pop-up when you click a title.

My own damn fault too. Darn it.
