HO HO HO!

ME:
Deck the Halls
You are 'Deck the Halls'! Let's be honest, it
isn't Christmas you are celebrating, is it? In
fact, you know full well that there were no
shepherds in the fields in December, and that
the date of Christmas was put at midwinter
specifically to coincide with the older
celebrations of Yule and the birth of Mithras.
An unashamed Pagan, you take great glee in the
number of carols referring to holly, evergreens
and Winter's end, and will sing them with
gusto. You know where they really came from.
And you do enjoy the seasonal celebrations,
regardless of their name... A merry Yule to
you!

Mom:
Silent Night
You are 'Silent Night'! You really enjoy
Christmas, and you like your Christmases
conventional. For you, Christmas is about
family and traditions, and you rather enjoy the
rituals of going to church at midnight and
turning off the lights before flaming the plum
pudding. Although you find Christmas shopping
frustrating, you like the excitement of
wrapping and hiding presents, and opening a
single door on the Advent Calendar each day.
You like the traditional carols, and probably
teach the children to sing along to them. More
than anyone else, you will probably actually
have a merry Christmas.

Who you calling Ho? Sorry old joke. *laughs*

The difference in the results is kind of funny if you think about it. I too, got Deck the Halls. I only celebrate Christmas because the rest of the family does, but I make a mean Yule turkey (with stuffing)!

I received your letter today. Thank you! I love the stationary and simply adore Tare Ginji. Will be picking up a jug of cider tomorrow to enjoy the rest of its contents.

Take care!

Yay! I'm glad it got there, fast too.

^^

I just love Christmas, the whole season, the music, family, giving (I'd so spend a million bucks on family and friends if I had it. I love LOVE giving presents.)

the whole festive/happy/joyfulness of the season

I know the reasons behind the holiday, all of them.

and they are all good.

I celebrate Goodness, and that's christmas to me.

The holiday season as a whole I don't mind. In fact that two reasons why I still celebrate Christmas are because 1. Christmas' Pagan ancestry, and 2. I'm out numbered *grin*.

I love to decorate for the holidays. I enjoy giving gifts. But there is something about Christmas, itself, that just irks me. It's the only time I feel something is expected of me; the only time I feel claustrophobic in a shopping mall. It's like an obligation.

Yule, on the other hand, is for me, the real celebration (or the calm before the storm, take your pick). I can just spend time with my family, hanging around the poinsettia/cactus/holly/tree filled apartment, enjoying a meal I didn't kill myself over. We might check out the local light displays or head out to a nearby Solstice festival and "party like a Pagan". It's more about "being" than "doing".
