What's in a name? A LOT!

Mattel is Satan

I don't mind you putting out Barbies to the classics like Swan Lake.. really I DON'T..

HOWEVER if you wish to expose children to the classics... changing KEN into PRINCE DANIEL from Sawn lake.. sucks ROCKS

Last I knew the Prince's name in Swan Lake, was SIGFRIED

Honest Kids can Handle SIGFRIED, if they can't let THEM rename their toys

leave classic ballet/faerie tales ALONE damn it!

Siegfried is one of the least strange names I've heard for kids' toys, honestly, once the kids themselves get ahold of them. But then, when I was 3 or so I renamed myself "Elephant."

If you think that's bad, Mattel's released a set "in honor" of Return of the King. I leave it to you to guess who's Arwen and who's Aragorn.

I'm not going to think about this much longer; I'll get physically ill if I do.

I don't mind the blatant commercialism so much as the CHANGING classics to "White bread America" names.

Don't mess with classic literature for the all mighty dollar damn it!

Coplay your dolls all you want to, kids will love it... but damn it let them learn and get exposure to other cultures at the same time damn it.

No wonder we're bottom rung educationally if we can't let our precious children learn a new name....

Sigfried isn't that bad.... I like the name...

... I'm suddenly thankful my only child for now (and probably ever) is a boy. Who's very much into boy things. Who has a habit of throwing things against walls and stealing my Deathscythe model, and my husband's God Gundam model. Yes, very glad I have a boy.

I should have been a boy.

That sounds like me as a kid.

When I was a little girl, Tonka Trucks were the bomb! I was the girl that put my Barbies in cars and drove the cars at top speed off the top of the stairs and let them crash messily into the ground below.

My favorite toy was my Voltron. *.*

My Dad ... still to this DAY.... spends WEEKS, sometimes MONTHS putting together model cars... he even apholsters the damn things, meticulously paints them

then after he's done and looked at it a few days, promptly buys cherry bombs.... lights the fuse, puses the car about 10 feet

They go up in realistic looking balls of flame

It's fucking great!

Three people (including me) watched Swan Lake today... the world is ending!!! ^^

Eh, what's in a name? I kept asking my sister during Rapunzel, "Isn't this where Barbie paints herself an AK-47 and goes on a shire-wide killing spree?"

I love Barbie. Poor Ken. Sadly for Ken, G.I.Joe always managed to get to Barbie first. What's up with Kelly? Oh, yeah, it's Barbie's little "sister." Skipper is a prostitute somewhere or in reform school.

Just saw the dolls on the shelf by the checkout at the New Target.
