Love ... The Sequel

I mentioned the other day my little Stray, Hime, brought me a dead lizard....

I just opened the door, Hime is being all cute on the front mat, on her back purring at me, meowing at me... and laying beside her, she bats her paw at, and tosses at my feet

a dead bird

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

In I come, grab a plastic bag and a rubber glove, as I try to pick this dead thing up to throw away, Hime starts batting at it like "Come on play with your gift mommy!!!"

EW EW EW

I threw it away and now Hime is all mad and quarrelling at me very vocally that I threw her present away.

It would be comical if it wasn't so damn GROSS!

I love this cat, really, I just wish she didn't love me so much.

ICK!

*faints*

My cats would always bring me the dead frog, lizard, shrew, bird, mouse, squirrel, etc., show it to me. Then once I properly pet them and loved them in.... thanks, they'd drag it away to the yard to eat. >.

Time-honoured trick - distract the cat, then clean it up. My Midnight gets lots of "Yes, you are a sweet boy, here's some milk for all your hard work" - and then when the little cream-junkie's face is buried in the saucer, the mouse/bird/rat gets quickly dumped in the trash.

At least Hime is still talking to you after catching you doing it. Midnight gives me the silent treatment for two days if he catches me disposing of his 'presents'.

Oh my god...my cat used to do that to me all the time.

He didn't seem to understand that as much as mommy loves him she doesn't like walking outside to dead animals on her sidewalk.

And if I threw them away and didn't congradulate him on doing a good job he'd drag the thing back and sit there with it until I did.

>.<

I know how you feel. My cat Kismet left a beheaded rat on the welcome mat yesterday morning.
She left the head too...it just wasn't attached
