I don't know if this will make you feel any better:
Sex!

This is one of the Gen-X Essays I wrote about two years ago (I so need to start writing them again) and moved to LJ when I got the account. If you've been to my site, you may have already read it but feel free to comment on the response I got. I'm in the process of of writing a response to it, myself, but I'm still trying to think of a witty comeback to "How would you feel if your mother had aborted you?"

A few years back, a friend and I used to cheerfully RP with DBZ-ish powers about flying away and destroying godhatesfags.com's servers.

Amusingly, a ML I was on once contained someone who registered "godhatesfredphelps.com".

There's also godhatesfigs.com.

And given the "Marriage Protection Week" thing, which coincided EXACTLY with the death of Matthew Shepard, I've been thinking that although I do not write RPS and the whole concept annoys me, I'm terribly tempted to write some GWB x Fred Phelps.

...Actually, I think it's because the concept annoys me that I'm tempted to do so.

it's sites like that that make me...
very ashamed of the christian 'organized' religions. I used to be southern baptist. "Used to" the key word here, until I figured out that things were taught by fear and bigotry.

My sexuality was called into question, and instantly, I'm the heel to the SBC.

Do I belive in a God? sure. Do I belive in organized religion? NO. I would rather get on my knees and pray in my OWN bedroom than go to a church that professes "hate", like the links shown. God (for those that belive in any), does NOT hate ANYONE. If the idiots running that site would read closer into the verses that they profess to cherish, they would see that the SIN is what God hates, not the person. Man is imperfect, but there's ways to gain absolution and atonement.

But as ChristineV (sorry, don't know how to do the LJ user links), said.. Man wrote the bible from teachings told. This document has been translated thousands of times, the translation now is probably quite misleading in some respects.

And, I'll throw this final debate out to people from that link. Jesus dined with sinners, why can't they?

Attitudes, minna. That and close minded ness. If i happen to be gay, or bi, or straight, so what. At least I can love as purely as I can.

Okay, the people who have created these sites and fully believe what they are typing / saying need to have the silly shit slapped out of them. THEY are the people that give Christianity a bad name... they pick something out of the bible and go ONLY by that.

I TOTALLY agree with sentairick, 100%!
God said to love endlessly, love your neighbor, do not hate. NOWHERE does it say in the Bible to hate other people. Hate the sin and the act, NOT the person.
Unfortunately, I never learned this in ANY of the churches I've been too. Only ONE church lightly skimmed on the subject. The others never even touched upon it.
I learned it from my Mother, and, ironically, during one of the times I visited the Buddhist temple behind my house. ^^;;

The thing is , as well...
the bible is meant as a *guideline*, save for the ten commandments.. pardon the pun, but those 'ten' were the only thing etched in stone.

If God destroyed everyone for every sin committed, Earth would be barren. What the wonderful folks at those sites need to realize, that instead of seeing a 'gay'man, or a black man, or a long haired hippy, or a fat man, that there is a human being inside. THAT is what we need to protect and nurish.

I consider myself Pansexual... one of these days, I'm gonna find someone that is my soul mate, and there is that chance my soul mate may be male. What will I do if my soulmate is male? turn him away? Tell him "hell no, I'm not gay?"

Right now, I have a hell of a lonely feeling inside. It's eased quite a lot with peoples well wishes during my cancer fight, but to find that 'one.' To deny myself that chance for total, pure love , I'd rather walk alone than compromise my feelings on it.

"Thou shalt not cleave to a man as if they were female." Yes, written like a rule, but what interpretation? Even biblical 'experts' have expressed there is a LOT that they don't know about things, and it's up to the individual to express themselves as they see fit.

When people are treated for what's inside, then and ONLY then will the world be a better place. I plan on doing my part, by being freinds with ALL types out there, gay, bi, straight, black, white, or any other difference. Perhaps in my own little way, I can help foster that change in mentality... if even one out there in each community helped inform or educate, instead of spread hate, that's a few hundred thousand right there. Everyone can make a difference, no matter how small they consider themselves to be.

I'm rambling, so I'll jet. Hope that made a little sense.

They do know that the King James version of the bible is extremely biased. All the more reason not to take it so literaly.

Re: The thing is , as well...
eh, I guess it's how kids have been brought up.. I know when I was growing up, I was tossed a bible and told 'the way things are', without letting me see the bigger pictures out there.

I don't fault my parents for that.. I just wish they had let me see a lot more of the world and make a choice for myself, instead of outside forces. I kinda feel in a happy hybrid tho.. Yeah, I'm a sinner. God loves me anyway. That's what matters in my religion.

The rest is paths *I* choose, and no one else. When they give birth to me and can call me their son, THEN they have a right to tell me what to think or do. Right now, this bish is in charge of his own life, and that's where I'm comfortable.

Re: The thing is , as well...
I still agree with you one hundred percent ^_^.

Unfortunately, most people tend to see the outer shell of a person without bothering to dig a little deeper and look to the inside. They can't or won't see past the first layer and see the actual person they're looking at or talking about.

**sigh**If only people weren't so afraid of what they're not used or don't know about... the blind hatred in this world would be so lessened.

Re: The thing is , as well...
Exactly.

It's like all the things Schrub.. er Bush has been doing lately.. if he'd concentrate more on um, say, running the government and not our morality and bedrooms, we'd be better off.

We're in the minority, ladies and gents.. but you know why open mindedness and clear , LEVEL headed thinking can still win?

We're louder. *smirk*

It also doesn't mention about how the bloke who started the second link abused his wife, or beat his kids with a mallet something like 200 times. Obviously a very holy person there. I wish he'd die.
