Kiribans (hit counter pic giveaway's) are pretty pointless... The last three counter readings I set have been missed and unclaimed by visitors to my site.

Does anyone else with a hit counter reward system in place find that people totally miss the point?

Re: ::blink::
No problem!

Gives me a reason to draw Ginji all bishified

*like a NEED a reason to do that?*

Just hope it inspires creative juices from you when it's done. If it speaks to your muses, I've done my job right.

Muwhahahahahaha... it's all in the master plan ya know.

Must go consider poses....

heh heh heh

Re: ::blink::
Ee. Might I jump on this unclaimed-kiriban claiming bandwagon? *_*

Re: ::blink::
Oh. And just lurked by your site. Might know the reason the last three are unclaimed? When I go by there, the box for where the counter would be just comes up as a red x, so the hit counter number isn't loading. Can't claim what you can't see?

Re: ::blink::
It was working an hour ago, the server that hosts my counter must be having a problem...

YUp I just went, system maintenance going on at the moment.

There's one left, sure.

Please go read the rule thingy on my site and e-mail me the request please.

*shrug* I had a couple of hit counters that never got claimed. So what I did was "reset" the award, or take whatever number someone would say...like Pond and the 1512th hit.

I kept resetting the counter to the next closest number too (If you look at the missed counters they are all really close in sequence and were hit within the past 3 days)

Well I normally set them pretty far apart, (That was my intention) but the past three I set very close together because they kept getting missed.)

I tried to gauge it so I was doing one a month give or take, that I can handle..... but I was curious why it's getting missed, I wondered if maybe I didn't make it very clear on my site or something.

I was aiming for the next one, but I'd been busy the last few days without much web-browsing. D'oh, I missed it!

But in regards of doing something like that, I haven't tried it, so I wouldn't know. <.<;

Well the next one should happen this week sometime.

But like Chal if you want to claim one of the unclaimed you're more than welcome to.

Oh, That'd be great! *.*! *jots down her name on an unclaimed slot line* >.> <.<... *goes to find the email addy.* >D

I checked out your site again shortly after the incident with the person who stacked the counter and, didn't see anything. Considering how peeved you were about it I thought you had stopped doing them.

Hmmmm. I guess I better look harder.

Oct. 8th, 2003 02:57 pm (UTC)
Nope Didn't stop...

and I wouldn't have minded had it been like 10-20 refreshes...

147 times was over the top IMO

Couldn't overlook that massive amount counter skewing

*shifts cat that has made herself comfortable on her lap*

I did another once over. For some reason I thought your counter was on your splash page, which is one of the reasons why I missed it.

Another is that my rez is 800x600. I've only got a 17-inch monitor and I need to wear my glasses to read most text on that, so the only time I switch to a higher resolution is when I watch a widescreen DVD. And I don't always think to change my browser to full-screen to view the "taller" pages. I can't wait until I can afford a nice size flat-screen!

Then there is the fact that your counter doesn't seem to like me. It keeps hiding! *grin*

Well at least I know where it should be, now, and have a very good reason to visit on a daily basis.

Babs, who is still jealous :o)

Well the counter a little bit ago was under system maintenance it's back up again

and yeah at 800x600 you gotta hit f11 to see it

because the graphic I made/used for the iframeset is exactly 800x600 so if you put a browser tool bar around it at 800x600 view you have to use f11 to remove the toolbar in your browser to see it.

I put the counter on my main page, because according to my stats people bookmark my page as http://fablespinner.com/main.html bypassing the splash page entirely.

SO if I put the counter on my splash page, it's not accurate.

I've only had one unclaimed (but I usually set the numbers far enough apart that regular visitors notice them) but I quit doing them after the last time, which I'd set three numbers (I was just hitting the 100,000 mark) and a single person spammed upwards of 800 page refreshes to get them. -_-;
Oct. 8th, 2003 03:32 pm (UTC)
ANd I thought 147 refreshes was insane

What a sad loser, really.

Did you think we wouldn't notice such a HUGE jump in traffic OVERNIGHT?
