New Kitty - Krishna

his little fellow was waiting for me to come home on my front door step where he greeted me so affectionately we just had to bring him inside. I hung up flyers around the neighborhood hoping to find his owners, if no one claims him we're gonna keep this adorable little guy. John named him "Krishna" (Because let's face it John is bound to name something with mythological religious names, better cats than our children!) :)

What a pretty tiger-stripy American Longhair! I'm a dog person myself, but that is an adorable little addition to your new family, heh. Keep us posted!

Isn't he adorable? He and Needy are currently fighting through the crack in the door. She's on one side, he the other and the side hinged to the wall where the crack is has two little paws going back and forth... very cute

Waiiii...so cute! If he's home to stay, there will be cavities in your home from all the sweetness two cats can generate.

Krishna is a nice name...for the cat. Wasn't he the Indian god with a gajillion girlfriends or some such thing? I seem to recall him being a chick magnet. Make sure *your* little godling does not follow in his namesake's footsteps if he stays!

Krisha and Jesus Christ have the EXACT same story just separated by some land and a few thousand years. The Jesus story is pretty much a plagiarized version of Krishna (and Krishna is a plagiarized version of Mithra...) etc... John studies religions so we are bound to have some funky named furry children. LOL. And Krishna makes Cat #3... I have Jack the Siamese, Needy the longhair party colored calico and then little Krishna the American Longhair tiger-stripe. I am surrounded by cute fuzzy things! ^_^

Can't think of anyone who deserves more to be surrounded by cute fuzzy things than you - being a cute thing (we'll leave out the fuzz, shall we?) yourself.

I am in lurve with your layout, BTW.

Krishna was/is essentially the Hindu Jesus. I named our new kitten this way because his tiger stripes reminded me of India and, as D observed, I'm bound to give our cats some sort of demigod name.

I'm not so sure I can say that Krishna is exactly the same story of Jesus. Yeah, I know I used to when I first started learning about all this but I've found some differences as well. Krishna was apparently a ladies man (although JC might have had Mary Magdalene and his "beloved disciple" John, depending on how you read the story).

I've come more to the opinion that Jesus was a composite of different myths (which makes sense since Judea was located at the cross-roads of so many civilizations). A bit came from India, some from Mithras and Zoroaster of Persia, parts from Egypt (Horus/Osiris), some elements from Greece (Dionysus) and all mixed in with Jewish traditions.

Yeah... what he said! LOL!

I need to find that book for you love, the one that compares JC, Krishna and Buddha (by Archarya)(sp) I think it's still in the storage shed though. xoxoxo
